How do I teach my children that they are being hypocritical when they aggressively insist I recycle every box, paper plate and discarded tissue yet they themselves declare a perfectly white and untouched piece of paper to be unusable if it has a slight wrinkle. Every morning they leave their bowl of almost-all-gone cereal with enough leftover milk for a small rodent to bathe in. All clothing must be washed if it has been on their body for five minutes (I can identify said clothing by finding it oh-so-conveniently on the floor).
I am so gratefully to our increasing liberal school system for brainwashing MY children on the importance of recycling - however, would you mind mentioning that they don't have to use a new cup every time they need a drink of water? My dishwasher and water bill will thank you!

Well said!! My poor boys have completly given up on me. I have never ever recycled. There I have said it out loud. Hope you can still claim me as a relative. lol I just simply am lucky to get my dishes clean and find my kitchen counters once in awhile let alone try to sort through my trash.
